Benrahma has to replace Fornals
|
Great battling point today.
But surely Said - if he’s even half decent - has to replace Fornals on the left.
Fornals works hard. He produces something really meaningful (goal or assist) maybe once every three or four games, but he’s not a proper threat. Maybe the middle is his place.
Bowen shows what you need out wide.
If Said can replicate some of Bowen’s magic, we’ll be a much better offensive threat.
Said - Antonio - Bowen .... That will give teams a proper headache.

Agreed, but Moyes will bring him in as and when he considers him to be fit and ready, like he did with Bowen. He'll probably get 10 minutes next week.

3 assists and a goal in his last 3 games before today = 1 contribution every 4 games?

Moyes just praised Fornals workrate again.
Against teams like this over 90' it has been vital.
Benrahma should be vital against team we need to and should beat.

Formals looks like they’ve felt sorry for the work experience kid so let him play with the men’s team.

Agreed Fornals gives 100%. Admirable. He’s got a good pass in him.
But all the talk is that Said looks fucking mustard in training. And from what I’ve seen on YouTube(that holy place of analysis), he looks like a real baller.
Just can’t see ‘Jimmy Hill’ matching that ....

Fornal's brings a lot to the game, he links up play very well, he has a great eye for a pass and has a great energy and workrate. He is also very good at timing his runs.
The issue is that he is shit in front of goal and whilst he tries very hard, he is actually quite slow. If he wasnt those two things, he wouldnt be playing for us.

Happy to be proved wrong but he can have all the tricks like Anderson. If he don’t work off the ball he will soon find himself on the bench.

Fornals is making us tick in terms of transitioning from defending to attacking

If Antonio is out for 3-4 weeks then he'll get his chance soon enough. Not sure I'd drop Fornals though.
Our problem is up front, Haller is disinterested and utter wank, I wonder if Benrahma couldn't play the Antonio role in the short term

I'll have a view on who (if anyone) Benrahma should replace after I've seen him play in the Premiership. At the moment Fornals is doing okay.

I thought once Fornals scored against Leicester it would give him confidence in front of goal.

I’m guessing this is the weekly ‘Let’s slag off Fornals even though he’s a quality player’ thread?
He works tirelessly for us, creates goals and will score more eventually for us. He’ll continue to improve too. The kind of player where you only notice what he does when he’s not there to do it.

Fornals isn't Anderson.
If he doesn't do something spectacular, it doesn't mean he's done nothing. And he's well worth his place in the team for the steady side of his game.

Note sure this is a hugely sensible thread. none of us has seen Behrama play and until we do nobody is in a position to comment on his strengths, weaknesses, positional play and so on.

I'm excited to see Benni as well and this may be the way to go, I was not a fan of Fornals but he has won me over, will be nice to have options

Formals drifts in the middle allowing masuaku to push forward which causes havoc for opposition defence as they are unsure who to follow / mark
